My name is Dee Nichols and I have been in love with Tollers since 1995. My husband Kerry and I live in Grady, AL now but had lived most of our lives in Fort Myers, FL. We were both born in the North and raised in the South. Upon moving to Alabama I sought out the local dog clubs and became a member of the Montgomery Kennel Club.
I have loved dogs all my life, and have been training and breeding dogs for over 30 years. I started with Dachshunds, and soon decided I wanted a bigger dog and fell in love with Rottweilers. I had Rotties for many years - loved and enjoyed them. I was asked one day to show a friends Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever -- Toller for short. I showed him or rather let him show himself that day and many times after that and fell in love with the breed. I slowly lost each of my Rottweilers to old age and replaced them with a Toller. I still have a special place in my heart for Rottweilers but I do LOVE my Tollers!!
Soon after getting into the breed I got involved with the National Toller Club and it wasn't long before I found myself elected the Regional Director for Region 6 which covers 9 states in the South and Puerto Rico. I did this job for 6 1/2 years until I had reached the maximum term limit, during the last term I also was the Rescue Coordinator for the club and sold Rescue merchandise for the club. I am no longer the Rescue coordinator but remain involved with both Rescue groups - The National Toller Rescue group and Toller Rescue Inc.
KD's Tollers have done remarkably well in all venues, with wins at Westminster, Hunt tests, Agility, Rally and Obedience, Dock diving and lure coursing as well as working as Therapy dogs, Seach & Rescue dogs, and Service dogs.
