I first heard about this breed through my connections with the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. The "Kooikerhondje" is proported to be one of the breeds used to create the . Since I was in love with the Toller breed and love the colors of red white I decided to check into this breed to see what they were all about.
After about a year and a half of asking questions and researching the breed I finally began to contact breeders to find out IF I could get one imported. I worked with several breeders in Denmark and finally two years after beginning my research I had my reservation in for a show quality female Kooiker.
Well, as you can imagine it was about this time that I decided I had to have another and it had to be a male. I contacted my friends again in Denmark and they put me in touch with Dutch Gold Kennels and I put my reservation in for a show quality male.
